The 2018 Ford F-150 is set to go on sale in Uniontown this fall. It's bringing with it a host of new power and technology updates, including more horsepower and torque across engine options, and class-exclusive Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. The biggest news, however, is its all-new 3.0-liter Power Stroke® Diesel engine.
The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling pickup in America for decades, but the 2018 model will be the first time it has ever been available in diesel.
Diesel-fueled trucks are popular, especially among the heavy-duty segment, because they can deliver more torque for their engine size. The F-150 is continually improving, pushing the limits of what a light-duty pickup can do (its high-output EcoBoost engine provides a walloping 510 pound-feet of torque!), so it comes as no surprise that Ford's engineers would introduce a diesel powertrain.
Exact specifications for the F-150's diesel engine are not yet available, but it is expected to compete with the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
